Perhaps the most enjoyable thing about the Mission: Impossible franchise is Tom Cruise’s complete disregard for his own personal safety. The guy has done some absolutely bonkers shit for your enjoyment. But perhaps his most harrowing film yet is the sixth installment of the popular spy series, during which he filmed the highest free fall jump ever put in a movie and actually broke his leg and continued production. Oh, and there’s also the entire closing scene during which Cruise actually dangled from a real helicopter and at one point fell off the damn thing and caught himself on an object hanging below.

It was during that scene that some of his co-stars thought he’d actually finally killed himself while making one of these movies.
“I heard myself scream. I actually thought he fell,” his co-star Rebecca Ferguson remembers in a behind the scenes clip that will be among the bonus features of the film, which is out on digital on November 20 and on4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 4.
“There was an audible gasp from the crowd. That’s a huge drop,” says Henry Cavill.
Cruise himself is pretty cavalier about the whole thing, having done crazy stuff like this for years.
“You know it’s going to be a big impact. It really knocks the wind out of me,” Cruise says. “Those takes you don’t do many of them. You do them until you get them, then it’s like please let’s move on.”
Yeah, that’s right. He did that more than one time.
These are the things Cruise does for your enjoyment.
